Well it’s been a wet and windy time for me on the lleyn this year, I managed to get out on the boat a few times but had to stay close to shore, plenty of fish caught but nothing noteworthy, had a few fish of the beach and a frustrating September evening at pen mon, right by the lighthouse where the water in front of me was boiling with whitebait and mackerel with bass smashing through the lot of them but all I could catch on my lure were mackerel and foul hooked whitebait.
I had only got silver metal lures with me as I knew there were whitebait about.

Excellent stuff! I love a good RIB and yours looks a belterPlease tell us more Like most I generally favour white lures for bass and when they're hard on the whitebait small flies hung with slow to no retrieve outside the edge of the shoal can be the ticket. You can do this with bubble float/ bombarda type set up without the need for fly tackle

Hi Topwater, I’ve had the boat for nearly 15 years now, it’s a MAC 420, it’s foam filled polypropylene, unsinkable, very stable, very tough and maintenance free.
It was just a annual visit to penmon for my lighthouse obsessed missus so I always take a lure rod.
