Have had a couple of night time trips to Saunton Sands for bass this week.
Very nearly didn’t do a report as not much to report, but I’ll make the effort ?

Wednesday night fished up to the high with @Christurner . Conditions looked perfect for bass.
Out went bluey and squid baits for me while Chris used a mixture including peeler.
Nothing all night, however I had been experimenting with a light weight and running ledger on one rod, to let it roll around away from the other.
Thought I saw a small bite but felt nothing so left it.
Some time later i reeled in an approx 1lb 8 schoolie that had managed to scoff a half bluey on a 6/0 pennell ???
That was it.

Last night returned with my mate Alex, who isn’t on here.
Lovely looking conditions but there was a lot of black crap and debris in the water, which didn’t bode well.
So it proved...

Still, it was a nice sunset...

We stuck it out until midnight in the hope the flood would shift the weed, but it stayed just as bad.
Every retrieve with 100 yards plus of line out (as you have to retreat back up the beach so quickly) resulted in a hard work out and great clumps of weed to pick off plus that horrible toilet paper type stuff that clings on the line.

We had planned to fish until 1am or so, but decided at 12 it just wasn’t worth fighting through that for another hour and packed up early.
Not a single bite for either of us. Oh well, always next time!
I’ll be glad when the nights start drawing back in and we can fish the beaches at a more sensible time.

Well done on the bass , weed can be a problem but if it’s there what can you do but try and fish through it , I haven’t seen Chris for a couple of years now ,

good effort and yeah to fish nights this time of year means a late one lol was just talking to mate about that by chance

Well done for sticking it out that long. Was Mr fox on the prowl again? It's weird when you sense you're being watched by something from the back of the dunes (and Mr fish is with you, so it can't be him for once)

Yep! He didn’t come as close but we saw him up the beach as we packed up.

I may still have been watching ?
