As I've not posted recently I thought I had better.

Quick session Friday morning in Torquay after a tip off from Bob that squid were about.

Not too hopeful with the cold, wind and swell which made a float and freelined jig impossible.

Managed four nice sized ones. My hands were too cold to bother trying to catch any other species.

Well done on the Squiddies Kai! (y)(y)

Nice one, well done (y)

I keep thinking I want to try that. Then I think the fuel down to the south coast would cost a lot more than a box or two of squid ???

Capn H did suggest they might be at Ilfracombe pier, so I suppose I could give it a go there in the autumn.
Do hate piers though, I’m not a sociable angler!

I think there are squid around in a lot of harbours etc but nobody fishes for them.

There is something addictive about fishing for squid.
I’d definitely try it up here if they’re about

My mate had an 8lbs bass livebaiting a decent 30cm squid when I was with him down the beach ... funny I can use pouting livebaits just about but couldn't bring myself to use the live ones .. should of done I blanked that night lol ?

He was catching them in around 8 or 10 foot of water as it goes so not deep

Had another go this morning and had 7. Also had plenty of wrasse in the edge including a rock cook
