Me and Phil went sole searching at Shingle Street last night, hoping that the Essex seaweed hadn’t reached that far. Although we got there at 19.20 we were lucky to get a parking space. Never seen the place so busy on a Friday evening.

Anyway, we were soon fishing and had a steady stream of fish until about an hour after high when it went really quiet. After that it was just the odd fish. We didn’t catch any monsters, but we did have six soles. The sole man himself only managed two of them, but did have the biggest. Two of mine were a bit in the small side, so they went back in.

I kept a third rod at distance all night and it did nothing and the baits were coming back untouched. I left the last cast out for over an hour and finally caught a little ray.

It was a lovely evening and we were in our t-shirts the whole time and no weed at all.
