South Coast Snow flounder.

Needed another flounder for my species hunt with The Portsmouth Angler. I had my first flounder New Years Day morning, but it was not eligible. Conditions today were f f f freezing with a stiff cold snowy wind from the North East. Idea was to fish the tide off at Hythe. Not much happening over high. I was watching the oyster catchers and my rod went, bird strike on the line. A bit later it happened again and the bird had to fly out of the line. Then the rod went again, but no birds in sight. Could it be? Yeeesss. A very sweet catch in very unfavourable conditions. Well pleased.

Thanks mate. In some pictures the mottling is green. It was cold, but all that was forgotten when the fish came in. l packed up straight after!

Thanks. Once l have a species l usually move on, but l joined another late starting hunt, so Had to do it all over again. New Years day was cold as well, when l got my first.

What bait did you use..please..?

Just old rag from last week. I keep it in compost. It dries it a bit and makes it dark and keeps it longer. On a 3 hook flapper, long shank size 6 hooks.

Yup well happy. Did not even notice the weight of my tackle box on my back on the way back to the van!
