Yep, needed one for my hunts!
Set up West Solent Mark, fishing over low.

Peeler are so expensive and a bit difficult to get compared to squid and rag, so they were the bait of the day.

I met my mate and parked at his house which is a stone's throw away from the spot. He came down with me for an hour, even though he had his right arm amputated 5 days before! Long story there, but there are tough guys and really, really, tough guys and he is in that category!

Another shock horror, no scatching rod. Which for anyone that knows me is certainly not the norm. Looking for bigger things so 2 rods, big baits on pulleys with new snoods and hooks as the spiders had 5 of them when at Worbarrow with Bazzer!

We were beating our gums for an hour or more and no action on the rods. Nice and sunny, but a chill wind from the West meant enough was enough for my mate and he was due his meds, so off he went not before taking this picture of a random bald bloke!

He had not been gone long and some action showed on one rod. No, click, click, bzzzźzz! Just a pulling surge like weed dragging on the line. Time to check the bait. Wound down and a heavy weight. Had to pump it in until closer to the shore when it woke up and started running. Game on! Previous retrieves showed weed and the tidal pull on it, but this was so much stronger. At first as it flapped near the surface l thought it was a ray, then l saw the fin. Smoothie on. Weed had jammed in the top eye, so had to walk back up the beach to land it. It was not very happy, but ok to unhook, my previous fish caught being a black goby.

Pictures taken with species cards and fish returned strongly without weighing, but definitely a pb for me.

A short while later the same rod is showing a similar action to the first fish with a similar story on the retrieve. It really makes you think about your leader knot! The bait being in for less time meant less weed and more able to feel what the fish was up to which was to run West so l had to move along the beach to get it. This one was weighed and around 7lb. Bugger to keep them in the weight sling with all that flapping about. A passing family took this for me. They were amazed to see it, especially the kids!

Sent pictures to my mate who was irritated to have missed the action. I now have my target fish for my hunts so do l go home? No another bait change. Got to admit to looking at my phone rather than the rods as happy with my lot and a glance revealed one rod bent like a really bent thing! This one is strong, very strong. The retrieve on this was much slower and more considered. Again weed in the top eye so l was a way up the beach landing it and l can see it's considerably bigger.

Unhooked, pictures taken (poor picture quality wise, sorry) and fish weighed at just over 9lb. A pb and some for me

Now more than happy, do l go or do l try for a double? No, got what l want and there is always next time, so l start to pack up. All my gear cleared up and packed just one rod still left out and yes another 7lb smoothie.

A short and "triumphant" walk back to my mates house after a chat with another angler who was waiting for the smoothies to come on!

Got my species, smashed my pb, see my mate. All good!

Will go again soon, just so my mate can see one caught and perhaps try for double figures? NO BRAINER!

Thanks to @DJDBazzer for giving me his spot and bait advice from him and Daniel Panter.

Nice one Goatee! Good session, and well done on the PB. Great photos too 'Bald Bloke'! ??

Smashed it mate. Well done!

Cracking session mate, loads a hounds and a PB, cant complain about that, very well done.
Thanks mate. Apart from the usual hunt, I had decided to target the hounds and mullet more this year. I was tempted to go after the first hound was landed, which is the species hunter bit, but glad I stayed longer.
