Hi all. So I set out last night with aspirations of smashing some hounds. Well, it was really slow for me. Some lads I was with landed a couple of smaller ones to about 6lbs and one of them had a nice 4lbs bass.
it wasn’t until nearly 3 hrs in before I had my first of the night, a small specimen at around 2 - 3lbs, but target acquired nonetheless.
Another event less hour or so passed when I had a terrific, text book hound pull. It was tearing line off as I lifted in and to start with, I was powerless to stop it. As the fight continued I got control but I was really having to work the drag as the fish kept making really hard runs. This was no pup!!
I eventually got her to the shore some 4 groins down from where I’d started, I was physically out of breath!! This was by far one of the hardest fighting fish I’ve ever landed. Exhausted, I made it back to my rest and was over the moon when she weighed in at a stonking 12lbs 14oz, my first double hound of the year!!
After weighing, and a quick snap, she swam off fine.
A couple of missed bites aside, that was my lot for the night, being a school night, I couldn’t stay as long as I’d wanted. My mate also had a double of 11lbs 3oz, his new PB.
It was another good night out albeit a little quiet but any double makes a trip out worthwhile in my book!! 776034C4-D813-47EE-BBF2-A2DFCE1142ED.pngD30F73CB-92CB-4E28-AC33-64C2A6396CC9.jpeg

Nice one, lovely hound!

Yes, the modest ones go well enough, but the doubles take it to another level don’t they?
To a point, yes. I’ve had a couple in the 14lbs bracket though that barely fought at all and I thought my pb of 16.5 was weed for most of the retrieve.... it went nuts about 20yds out though!!

Interesting. My PB wasn’t weighed but it was around 11 I think. Don’t have a picture on this phone :(

But have had a few that either came off, or broke the leader (still on the step of shame for that, schoolboy error of not checking the leader properly ?) that I just couldn’t hold.

No no no no!
You have gone off track, you'll never get the ton up of skate if you keep messing around with grey dogfish!?

What is the craze about grey dogs???? Unless you like rock and chips??? Saying that, you can have skate and chips too. Father is carefull these days asking for wings,we winged him out on a sole netting trip!! Chucked a box full outside the door and bailed out,he went mad!
