Hi everyone new to the group. I have been shrimping today with a very basic push net in pett at low tide, they were very small. Is there anywhere better to go - pevensey, Eastbourne area? Would appreciate advice thank you

Hi Willkie
Welcome to the forum!
I’m impressed you got some! Pett is one of my stomping grounds and last time I tried I blanked so gave up!
I or should I say the better half mainly prawns now at bexhill or Glyne Gap but this year has been quite poor so far and I have to say she isn’t happy about it!

Thanks so much for the response. I went down just after 9.30 and must have caught a good 50-60 but all fairly small and certainly shrimps not Prawns in terms of size. I will try your suggestions. Thanks

Welcome to the forum.
Spoke to the wife of a pusher this morning, apparently higher water temperatures are pushing the shrimp into deeper water.

Welcome to the Madhouse WIllkie! 👍👍

Sorry I can't offer much advice - nowhere near your area. However, we were out pier fishing back in 2022 and a couple of guys were dropping baited Prawn nets over the pier. I was surprised to see the Prawns they were catching were mainly 5-6ins long.

I'm not in your area but where I am I have found that you will get shrimps across the nice sandy bits and prawns once you get to the rocky bits and in tidal swimming pools around the walls if they have weed growing on them.
