So I got my new bearings for the 7 HT and popped them in. Reel is now nice and smooth but I would say these bearings are packed with grease because the spool does not rotate very freely when in free spool. So question is whether to use the reel first to find out how it casts or wash out the grease and lube with oil. My first thought is to try it first it could be that the grease will negate the need for messing about with the braking ? If after trying it I achieve a reasonable casting distance without getting bird nests it may just be as well sticking with the as they are, then as I get the casting consistent try using oil to increase distance when required? I am fishing not trying to get huge distance after all.
