Great report & photos Kev - well done!

I couldn't get on with Braid on my beach rods but going to give it another try at some point.
Meanwhile, 28Lb mono with a 60Lb leader. I would think a rotten bottom is essential on marks like that.
Lots of folk have mentioned using tapered leaders, but with 28Lb mono and a tapered leader down to 18Lb at the thin end, that just creates a weak spot at the join to my thinking.
