Jeez, I haven't heard the name "Drott" mentioned since I was at primary school in the 60's! ???I see they have the Drott scraping the shingle again.
You have to be an oldie like me Tramps. A mate of mine had a load of plant in his smallholding from jcb diggers to d20's scrapers. Also large scraper he called it a Drott. He also had a Rickman Triumph (built by Don & Derek) and a Husky scramble bike. I built a 500cc Tribsa I went scrambling on as a junior. Now called Moto x, scrambling was a far better name.Jeez, I haven't heard the name "Drott" mentioned since I was at primary school in the 60's! ???
You probably aren't that much different in age to me. Heinz '57 boy, me! I think from what I saw googling this morning that Drott designed & made the original 4 in 1 bucket which was used on International tracked shovels hence the name International Drott. They also made towed scrapers I think. One of the old guys I used to drink with had a JCB that he used to call JaCoB! He was a bit of a character and when he started going on about Jacob, anyone that didn't know him used to wonder what he was on about! He was also telling us one night that he'd had to pay HMRC some income tax - "When ever them buggers pester me for my money, I always write on the back of the cheque 'Please spend this money wisely" he told us!You have to be an oldie like me Tramps. I've just remembered a tale about another mate that had a small plant hire firm. He was levelling out a site on a slope once for a big farm building. He asked me if I could give him some help for a day as he knew I had done a bit with swing shovels & wheeled diggers. I turned up and he had a tracked dozer there and a tracked loading shovel which was loading trucks to carry the spoil away. "You drive the dozer and reverse up the bank and push the soil down to me, I'll load it at the bottom with the loader". I'd never done anything with tracked dozers or diggers but thought I'd give it a go. All went well for a couple of hours but as I got halfway up the slope in reverse, the clutch lever came away from the gearbox shaft. My mate down the bottom had a face of fear while I was waving the clutch lever around at him to try and let him know what had happened! I wasn't all that old at the time, and it took quite a few seconds to realise that all I had to do was switch the engine off, by which time I had reversed up over the brow and was 20 yards up across the site! ???You have to be an oldie like me Tramps. Just think when you retire you won't know what to do with yourself for the first 3 months.Yep, year I was born. About 9 weeks to go and it will be "Mayday, Mayday, 64th Birthday"! ???
Over 2 years to go before that, and because I'm not too well & unable to get out at the moment due to health and Covid, I can't see a lot changing by the time I officially retire.Just think when you retire you won't know what to do with yourself for the first 3 months.
Just take things steady, if you don't feel like doing much then don't. I have good and bad days and take each day as it comes. I want to get as much as I can from pension etc as I paid in a fortune over my working life.Over 2 years to go before that, and because I'm not too well & unable to get out at the moment due to health and Covid, I can't see a lot changing by the time I officially retire.
I've got a couple of small private pensions, one of which I took out over 40 years ago, but they stopped me paying into it when I was ill some years ago - should have restarted it but it got forgotten. I never knew until then you cannot (so they said) pay into a pension if not working? Anyway, it was supposed to mature 3 years ago as original plan when I took it out was to retire at 60. I left it invested as I was still working, and I've recently found out they have reset my retirement date to 75??? WTF??? ???Just take things steady, if you don't feel like doing much then don't. Give them a telephone call and tell them you are the client and want it changed back to 65. Bl**dy cheek. Don't forget to get the persons name, date, time you called. They don't have authority to change things without your permission.I've got a couple of small private pensions, one of which I took out over 40 years ago, but they stopped me paying into it when I was ill some years ago - should have restarted it but it got forgotten.
