So our first club competition arfter Covid took place on sat originally was to take place at seatown and charnmouth but it got changed to Portland to Plymouth rover over fears of over crowding on beach’s and arfter the moosive landslide at seatown last week it turned out to be a good shout any how me my usual comp buddy headed for a long walk with plaice dogs and maybe an early hound or ray the targets we were joined by another friend of mine who altho a competent angler had never matched fish we arrived early set up then coffe and smoke before kickoff at 3 pm the other guy arrived half hr later puffing and panting ( I thought I told him to pack light whoops ?) any way we commented how good conditions were for plaice clear water slight chop with the westerly breeze and hopes were high 3 came baits of fresh blacks and lively rag were sent out ready for the onslaught and nothing we sat on our arrses for 3 hrs without as much as a touch eventually my buddy snagged the smallest plaice We’ve seen on this mark but at 28 ( 7.1/2oz @Mr Fish cm bang on legal limit it counted for comp half hr later the new lad had one a touch bigger at 31 cm 10 oz then my bud had another at 33 cm 12 oz I in the mean time had feck all hmmm then right at dark the new lad come running up the beach with a slab of a plaice at lb 1.14 oz it was a clonker his shore pb ( he had his boat pb at 3 lb in the week on his sib )so he was made up if it was fatter it have easier hit 2.1/2 lb real long fish I still hadn’t had a fish my mate and new lad landed a couple of dogs each I got smashed by either a hound or decent bass neither hooked landed a couple of tiny Huss one was the size of my hand then managed a dog points on the board fished hard for another dog but wasn’t happening ☹️12 pm come comp over news from others spread from abbo down was much the same very few fish caught maybe cause of eastly winds all week maybe cause of may water starting up who knows new guy finished 4 th my mate 7 th I was 20 th out of 29 who fished not a good start may come is a bc rover rays and hounds on our minds oh si ???cheers ma Bute’s 4DB7869D-600E-4E65-9F71-60BFDC798642.jpeg
