As a beach angler for over 40 years I would say simply be cautious .
Read up as much as you can on beach safety, if you are wanting to fish lures then there is a wealth of information on line and also in the written word .

Water , river, stream, pond or reservoir, estuary, beach or rock marks can all be dangerous places.

With common sense , a bit of gleaned local knowledge of the different conditions wherever you plan to fish ,sensible clothing and using / understanding tide tables as well for the area you plan to fish you will be as well prepared as you can be .

With more experience comes better results hopefully .
