Popped east to Seaton last night, twas very calm and chilly, I was hoping a ray may come a bit closer looking for food, unfortunately they had decided to eat elsewhere but a few small Pouting was out looking for grub, they was munching on the rag I had left over from the day befores bash, the sandeel and squid which was aimed at the ray was getting mullered by small Whiting very quickly, any proper bites was very few and far between, but managed 1 Dogfish just before high water.
Id given it 3 1/2 hours of mostly walking around and flapping my arms to keep warm and decided to call last casts, 1st rod failed so was packed away and just as I was about to pick the other rod up there was a couple of very good taps, bang fish on, felt like a doggie on the way in, until it got close to the shore and it tried to shoot off along it!!, pulled him back and out the surf, bit of a surprise, Mackerel!! and a nice whopper, just shy of a pound too.
Did think about putting a fillet out again but the mackerel I had used early came back untouched so this ones coming home for tea, think we need a bit a wind to liven the fish up a bit.
