Roker Float Fishing

I've had a mad idea of fishing for herring/mackerel using a float. I can't think I have ever seen anyone salt water float fishing down roker so my question is has anyone one had a go and was it successful or just a stressful day? I enjoy using feathers but fancy giving it a go for a bit of sport with a smaller rod. I'm thinking of the bay in roker, fishing high tide off the grass/rock bank on the old north pier.
Any advice or experience's are welcome, thanks.

It’s a upt north thang, there can be only one Roker and can be very good indeed for the cod fash in the winter, be interesting to hear how you get on.

Winter fishing is pretty decent, gets swamped with whiting, pulled a good few haddock out last winter
