Hi all, just a quick roundup of a few trips since my last post.
It's still been pretty slow out there, but the dogs have definitely arrived along with a few thornys, straps, small codling and the odd blonde.
I've been trying for a blonde since I had the nice bass, and I actually managed to find one!... Only my 2nd ever off a local reef.... To say I was happy was an understatement ?IMG_20210411_124117~5_resize_56.jpg

While after the blonde I've had plenty of dogs, straps, small codling and an increasing amount of thornbacks upto about 9lb. IMG_20210411_151320~2_resize_75.jpgIMG_20210415_171751~2_resize_0.jpg

Roll on the next few weeks.... Cheers Si.

Nice fishing and great pics Si. When you have two rays in the same pic is that because you have had double shots or just had two fish close together?

Hi bud, the last 2 rays were caught at the same time, 1 on each rod... The first double shot, the rays were put in a large rock pool on the ebb to recover. I find this far better than putting them straight back when a cool rock pool is close by.

The reason it's better is because our local tides can drop by 40ft in 6hrs, and when you put them back on the ebb, on our shallow marks, you will often find them stranded.... I guess they drop to the bottom to recover, and get caught out.

Once the tide starts to flood, I get a pic and put them back.

Obviously in the heat of the summer, it's a tough call on what's best, as you don't want the pool warming up.

Great fishing and report si fingers crossed it carries on picking up. Made my week up there at the end of the month even more welcome.

Well done Si, as regards putting rays in pools, I did that years ago at Lilstock. I put two thornies in one of the big pools on the ebb and a short time later a family with kiddies turned up and started paddling, one of the kids trod on one!
I went down there on tuesday with my youngest and collected about 20 leads over low tide, there seems to be a big increase in the numbers of those creatures that look like oysters but fastened tight to the rock, next time I fish I'm going to try them as hookbait.

Went 15.12 Tat ?

Quality fishing ?

Congratulations on a cracking Blonde there, Si. Though I'm struggling to believe that I've caught more of them than you, a whole one more to be precise! ? They're special creatures that's for sure. Out of curiosity, what was the successful bait? Sandeel accounted for each of mine.
