well for about a week been onshore winds on my local beach so havnt been plus work etc anyway
so when i saw winds dropping to 4mph an hour before the 7pm tide onwards thought I'll have a quick go for rays for a short session of 2 and half hours really short trip for me anyway ... only bought 3 squid with me .

wasnt confident tbh.1 rod pennel squid and 2nd cast as i was trying to get reception on my phone by walking up the beach a bit ..total schoolboy error !!!

for first time in a while instead of just sitting on there waiting to be reeled in or slack line bite this thing must of taken off as all I hesrd was my rod n rest slamming the shingle ran down to it and struck into nice ray which fought up in the water instead of hugging bottom nice fight

shit pics but the tail seemd thicker than usual and have bout 4 cuts on me they don't usually spike me lol

only bite

cheers and yeah true but typical just wandered off.10 yards and happened straight away lol hadn't even gone for a pee yet n slacken em off even doing that usually

Nice thornback ?

When I fish with my multies I take the free spool off and just use the ratchet after setting the drag. Saves damaging or losing rod & reel. Works for smooth hounds, bass, doggies etc.

done couple hours again 6 till 830 ish and apart from a nibble nothing about ...

probably give it a few days/week and might dig some lug maybe peeler go bassin

Great thornie!

Love it when they hit and run, much more fun than when they just sit on the bait

I went bassin last night. Drowned 40 prime lug and not even the crabs were interested.

just too cold me thinks

bad luck and I was considering doing that this evening but means digging and also got to get up extra early tomo so not sure yet lol
I'll pop an update on if i go ,
yeah squid baits coming back untouched by crabs too ..tiny tide though

With the strong winds forecast, maybe a lye in would be better.

Good luck if you do get out. It’s slightly warmer and a little bit of colour in the water. I generally prefer the neap tides in our neck of the woods, but yeah last night was tiny - at one point I wasn’t convinced it was actually going to come in far enough to fish ?

not an option unfortunatly lol not too bad 630 alarm ..one small bass tonight ..next trip be week or so now if weather okay on next tides

done an hour in one spot early bout 7 till 745 no bites so moved up to the shallow mark for about 815 ,had one about 30cm, and quite a few other small bites ..4/0 on so wasn't expecting to hook many unless that size or above ... reckon the one landed was the biggest that pecked the whole time though any way as was the only one that gave a good bite ...
lovely silent evening out there .
that'll be it now for week or so now for me though ..
fish out there tho should get better n better now
