50/50 washing up liquid and water mix.
I also use liquid paraffin from the chemist.

For washers I use Geocel plumbers flue sealant, they last well.
I use 22mm copper pipe cut into 15mm lengths then have a former with a 6mm rivet poked through from underneath. Plenty of vaseline and a week or so to set.
I have a bag full of acrylic washers that go each side to create a good seal.
