Thought I’d hit the beach with the kids one last time before they go back to school, I popped into the local tackle shop to grab some frozen lug to back up the lug I dug up yesterday and the peeler in the freezer. Got down to Pett Level just before high water and put out a peeler on a pulley pennel rig and on the second rod, I intended to use lug on a 2 hook clipped down rig. Well the fresh lug had gone to mush in the heat and were totally useless, so I got out the frozen lug, which wasn’t great quality. I peeled a few claws to tip off the lug and sent that seaward too. I got a real solid slam on the peeler rod, that had me scurrying for the rod, but nothing else... until a group of seals surfaced where my line met the water. A liner from a seal! (Second pic) We fished on until 2230, where we had the pennel hooks snipped cleanly off by suspected spider crabs, (found quite a few spiders in rock pools at low tide recently) without any further action it was time to call it quits and head home, blankety blank!

Good effort mate ?.
Definitely get yourself a bait cool bag and a couple of cheap ice packs, I take two, one I keep all the bait in and the other attaches to my tripod which I put enough bait in for a few casts , then I just top it up as it gets used.
Tight lines.
