The pinion support has to be the correct pinion support too.
As Russ mentioned the long ones will shift the load by leveraging onto the main shaft which will also cause damage.
The reel itself has a working life, you crank heavy weed and fish your wearing it out as you go.
Sure the pinion support helps but as soon as you buy and own one of these your buying into the fact your have something that won't last forever unless your very sensible with it.
