So yesterday we had are area c rover match area c covers Monmouth Beach in Lyme all the way to Plymouth but all of the 20 odd anglers that fished it stayed local with most at branscome . Me and my mate decided to go to are favourite mark rocked up to calm seas and overcast skies perfect first we tried float fishing for Ballens with some live prawns my mate trapped in the week but with a fair bit of colour in the water we didn’t get any so we headed onto the clean ground to start bottom fishing as usual the schoolie bass were hammering the baits and I snagged a lively little begger nice to see but no good for the comp need to be around 45 cm to weigh in mine was around 35 anyway the fishing was slow my mate managed a few dogs one around 2 lb 3 good for the comp he orso managed a little tub gurnard first we’ve seen down here and I’d been desperately trying for plaice but they just didn’t seem to be around but finally did find the dogs with my biggest around 2lb 4 an oz bigger than my buds ?news from the others was it was slow for most few had hounds and the odd dog and loads of tubs comeing in including a few good enoug to weigh in I myself managed a small one love the Feisty little critters ?then it slowd right up over high with nothing happening at all then disaster are only lighter broke???so we where a good half hr uphill from the car fishing was dead and didn’t have a light ☹️As darkness fell an hr and a half into the flood my mate started dozing off while I was doing a shit ray mears impression trying knocking to bits of flint together when suddenly I herd my ratchet go I looked up to see my gbfs arched right over I jumped up grabbed the rod and fish on I woke my mate who gave it big legs up to me and asked wot I had defo hound she was putting up a cracking fight runnining left and right but I gain ground on her she tangled in my bass rig but I finally we got her safely on the beach now she was a good fish obviously in pup but whould she finally be my first beach double sadly not but at 9lb 10 oz she was a great comp fish specimen hounds in area c are only 8 lb we worked quickly and carefully to get her weighed pics and back in the sea and she swam off strongly happy with my new pb and with renewed interest we fished hard for the last hr but I only managed a 3 lb strap and my mate got both rigs destroyed by a bootlace so we headed back . Back at weigh in I was confident of my first win and sure enough I took 1 st place with the hound and 2 nd with my dog my mate took 3rd place so my first win a new pb and a few quid in my pocket happy days ???EF18B214-B75F-4207-AEBB-4203D57A4CF7.jpeg

Good show mate, bout time you got yourself another win under your belt, and PB to boot. You'll have to get yourself a vape, or maybe just a spare lighter! Would have loved to have watched your attempt at bushcraft with the flints ha ha. Great report.

Nice one mate, that’s a cracking hound from down your way and well done on the win too!

Just ask your mate to turn his headlight off before a photo next time, lol
