4 days away and hopefully plenty of fishing time. I'm not taking the beachcasters, just 2 carp rods and a couple of telescopics for tiddler bashing around the harbour. Does anyone know if macks and gars are showing? Has anyone tried the west side of Nothe fort? I walked down onto the rocks there last year but I've never heard it mentioned in any reports.

If you see Bill at Portland, say hi from all of us. ;):giggle:

Local on the beach today, not quite as far along as that, said the mackerel aren’t about yet.
They can’t be far off though. The water is a bit coloured today.

Don’t know about the south coast generally, but in my experience on my local coast the gars show up a bit earlier than the macs

Good luck matey. Tight lines. 🎣 🎣

Ian.

Plenty off the stone pier, also some schoolies etc there aswel. Tons of mirco’s straight down the wall itself.
Those rocks you mention are snaggy as hell. I would avoid them. Preston beach has been throwing up flats etc.

Cheers, stone pier and the harbour wall will be the first choice, no doubt I'll spend most of my time untangling her line but she's happy for me to get up early morning and have a few sessions on my own. If there's any micro pout around I'll try livebaiting one under a float.

Better off with size 4 hook and a mak strip on that float!
