As the title says the tides were small and the sea was flat so I didn't get the big rod out but I got the little one out Instead and went on the hunt for a bass this afternoon.
Low water was at 16.30
2.6 m tide so off I went down to the north gare again to chuck some lures out at 15.00.
I received two lures I ordered from wish yesterday both woke coloured and decided to give one of them a go 30gm shallow diver about 1m. It went out like a bullet well impressed with it. It took some getting used to it as I couldn't see it near the surface but after a few casts I got the hang of it.
My target to beat a 58cm pb. After half an hour chucking it about fish on it gave a good account of itself, a quick handball up the side and there he was 40cm it's a start1000016121.jpgAfter the pic safely returned to the deep well low water😂😂.it started getting dark about 16.45 so out came the head lamp on the lowest setting as I heard lads on here saying use red light I haven't got one and needed it to make sure I didn't fall off the edge and in the drink. I moved further up the pier and thought I had a bit of weed on the lure when I got it in I was quite surprised a first for me this little fella
1000016128.jpg1000016129.jpgNow i reckon it's a little pollock but if I'm wrong I'm sure you lads will put me right👍 but it's a first for me.
At full darkness I moved back down the pier and put a sandy Andy weedless on.
Second cast with this wallop fish on I nearly shit myself I was expecting a bite but when it came it scared the living shit out of me. It had me all over at the top at the bottom it gave a hell of a fight finally got it to the side another quick handball and there he was a quick measure 41cm 😲 the fight he gave was epic best one ive so far with a bass1000016130.jpgIt was approaching 18.00 and I didn't want to leave the car in the carpark to long in the dark as a few have been done over in the past so headed back. The car was ok and I was happy the way the session went, I will beat my 58cm pb sooner or later so until then you lot have fun😁.

Well done Stevie….thats given you confidence in your new lure…
It was only a cheap one off wish, I got a popper thing as well 20gm £1.99 each cost me £3 for shipping but they are quite well made I was impressed with the shallow diver haven't tried the other one yet.

Some lures are crazy money….ive yet to have a sniff on the Patchinko popper @£25+ but have caught on all the £5 ones.
The hooks generally rust quickly on the real cheap ones but I change all mine for singles anyway.

id stick ya plastic away stevie, decent bit of sea forecast this week
time to get your hands dirty again ?
I'm watching the weather and the tides seem to be on the make. It needs a good stir up on the Durham coast line to even stand a chance of getting something half decent.

Pollacks bottom jaw sticks out past the top jaw and something to do with lateral line 👍

Lateral line on a coalie is straight and white, on a pollock it curves towards the shoulder and is darker.

Same all
Over apart from the humber
Handful of scrats off the holderness beaches, and that about it
Needs a decent sea on for a few days

I don't fish Northumberland often furthest I got at the beginning of the year was Lynne mouth. It was horrendous strong northerly wind the rain coming at us sideways off the sea had two casts and me and my mate left😂😂. I'm going to try and get up there for a few sessions in January with my mate as he knows a few marks I haven't a clue. I've fished the Newbiggin open a few years back.
