Hi all! So, last night Alan (Action Man) and myself decided to try and fish a new low water venue on the North Kent coast.
We got parked up by about 7:15 and embarked on the reasonably long walk to our spot. As we walked down, the rain started to increase and by the time we’d picked our spots and set up, we were both pretty soaked.
Thankfully it was short lived and before long, it was a pleasant evening to be out.
The first couple of hours were slow with Alan finding a couple of dogs whilst all I could muster was a schoolie of 29cm.
Low water came and went and darkness was in full effect when I had a peculiar bite. My rod went slack but slowly before slowly pulling down again. I tightened up the line only for the same to happen again.
I couldn’t decide whether it was just weed or a very lazy fish and after a while, decided to bring it in to see.
I was met with weight from the off but it wasn’t fighting back. However, it still felt like it was moving of its own accord as I retrieved, something really strange was going on.
As I got my line closer and walked up to the waters edge it became apparent as to why… I’d only gone and caught a lobster!! I’ve had a small one in the boat before but this was a much better size and my first from the shore! It certainly made a change to see one, I actually can’t stand them to eat though but I knew my dad would love it and it seemed a fitting ‘thank you’ for helping me out with the kids in the boat on the weekend so in the bucket it went. (Min head size is 8.5cm, this one was just under 11cm).
We fished on and before long I had a small eel whilst Alan continued to keep the dogs busy, he ended the night with 4 I think.
Meanwhile, I caught a second bass, a bit bigger at 45cm but it was really lean and only weighed in at 1lbs 6oz.
Finally, a doggie on my last chuck saw the end of the session as the tide pushed us off of the mark.
The walk back to the car was killer so I’m not sure how often I’ll fish here but it’s always good to try new things!
