Evening all,

Decided to try a new low-tide venue tonight, wasn’t planned but just needed to get out the house! It’s only 15 mins from my house and I’ve been waiting a few years to try it.

Being a low-tide venue, it’s a kind of a be on your feet with one rod type of venue. So the shelter had to stay at home and a battle with the elements it was. In short, I was frozen and soaked to the bone, hardly enjoyable.

First cast, left it out 30 minutes and found a doggie which didn’t even register a knock.

Second cast, some kind of tame bite, left it a while but nothing.

Third cast, at this point it was the turn of the tide and the rod gave some very gentle rumbles, which I left. Nothing more materialised so I left it another 10 minutes, decided to reel in and check the bait and what a slab of weight on the end! Thought it was snagged but after a few mins of arm-burning feeling and heaving I had the ray on the shoreline. What a lump. Without a doubt the biggest I’ve ever had, no idea what the weight was (as I never weigh anything), but it was a serious bin lid! Just holding it up at arms length for the camera was a struggle.

After that, I quickly re-baited and cast out only for the tip to start pulling gently again. Sure enough number 2 ray was on the beach. Another female, smaller but still a reasonable size.

So, new venue, 4 casts, 3 fish and a pb.

Well worth freezing my tits off and getting soaked to the bone!

Until next time
