First cast got one. Gilt head bream. Size 6 hook just covered with rag as they are great bait stealers. 40 ft out. They show well on a 9ft spinning rod! Southampton Estuary. Between the rain, but still in the cold! Beautiful looking fish. Species 11.

One was caught at Boscombe Pier a few days ago, a friend has them in his nets at Swanage from time to time in January, he had a Black Bream last week.

Only small. I need to try at night for the eating size ones.

I think your best bet will be Sowley in September or October, the hour prior to sunrise.
This is when the kayakers seem to catch the bigger fish.

Well done on another species my man. I reckon you should try and catch one every month this year
