I only ever caught a tadpole fish in summer. Llanbadrig, about halfway between the church and the headland, where there is a small ledge only big enough for 1 man. You are high up above the water there and the rocks go directly vertical into deep water at your feet. You don't even need to cast, I caught one on the float right up against the rocks. It's like fishing on a pier.
I saw one caught at Amlwch too.
