South Coast Mid channel monster pollock

I started watching it earlier this morning and stopped watching when you were filling up the box and cutting the hills to bleed out the fish.
Can I ask, is it really necessary to take so many fish for the table? Although I rarely take fish myself, I don’t object to a few being removed for personal consumption, but as stocks are so threatened, is it justified?
TIA👍

Thanks for your reply,

I hear you completely and i feel the same way. If you did watch to the end I explained this and i took 5 fish home. I thought that was enough and called it a day at that. I eat fish alot and i would either buy it in a supermarket or go out and catch them.

Unfortunately when fishing at 70m+ they struggle to go back and you would have seen in the video that most fish i tried to torpedoe them back in and hoped they would kick back down. Normally i fish with slow pitch gear and the fish don’t have the issues of the benz as much as its really light gear. Im all for conservation but im also a hunter gatherer and shoot to eat or fish to eat.

I respect your views completely and i explained this at the end of the vid.

The pollock have now spawned and thats why we have been out to target them unlike the commercials that target when they are full of spawn which isn’t sustainable when they wipe a whole wreck out within 20mins.

Just interested to know, if you were on a charter and payed over £100 for an offshore trip would you only catch one fish? Because all the fish that are caught at this depth dont normally go back. Just something to think about

100% Right.
I put a kill pic up on Facebook all legal beach caught cod and got smashed by all the dicks on there......
The ONLY thing we are obliged to do is treat the fish with the respect they deserve.
If you can make sure its consumed thats good enough.
If they wont go back whats the point..... wether thats 200ft mid channel or trying to put a codling thats been dragged through a 2m sea on Chesil its dead, the best thing to do is eat it....... end of.

Saw that video come up on my Youtube subscriber feed this morning, but haven't got to watch any Youtube today. Will definitely have a watch tomorrow when Wifey's at work.
