But if this is madness, then I'm filled with gladness.
I'm about
to explain
That this cod angler is loosing his brain
Madness madness they call it madness

After the storm.
I had to.
It would be foolish not to try.
Off to Dungeness point .
Arrived an hour after high, rushed over to the beach and started to get set up.
The sea was really running and looking really coddey.

First disaster was realising that I'd left my rigs at home 🙄🤬
20 minutes later and I'm back on the beach, this time wth rigs!

Bait up with half a cuttlefish and 3 black lug

Cast as far as I can into the malestrom and wait

After 2 hours fishing it was time to go.
The ebb tide had started to pick up, making fishing all but impossible.
Not a bite tonight, glad I went and happy to blank.
If a unicorn was there, at least it had a chance of finding the bait before a sea rat!!

Conditions were, testing, but it sorts the men from the boys 🤔

Fair play to you Shirl, I can still remember those days when the itch just had to be scratched! Older and I hope a little wiser now, so no more 90 mile drives to Dengemarsh at silly o’clock! Cheers, Bob.

There's something about a beach you know in the right conditions.... you know your chances are thin but the chance of just one sea 🐖 is so tempting because it's like stepping back in time.
Great report.... I would have done the same if I was close Alex.
The other choice is to sit at home and wonder if just one was out there......

@chesilpete
I can't remember the last time I felt as alive as I did for those 2 hours last night on the beach.
I knew the chances were beyond slim, but I had to try.
Those who don't know me would have thought I was an escaped resident from bedlam.
Those who know me would have known I was in my happy place.
I was running down and up the beach to cast, singing prince busters 'madness' and shouting "I'm here, I'm here, come and get me Mr cod"

I'm glad I was the only one out last night 🤣

So much more to fishing than catching fish and getting freak-on to me paramount and always achieved regardless, nice to be regaled with your trip into the unknown,
Went for therapy session last night myself for eight hours but was interrupted around high with a coalie and finally a fish not quite a double, but a fair lump I would say and best fish for a long while.
Should I ever catch from shore another double I will post mug shot 😀😜

Post all cod pics
😍😍😍😍

you know it’s bad flappy when you start sniffing your bait towel after drying and storing in carry bag for freshness out of season, soo good.
I keep my bait towel in the front of the van.
It's more like a comfort blanket to be honest

Great when it gets warmed up and heater circulates the delicate fragrances.
What's yours? Cart?
It's black lug and cuttlefish for me.
Maybe with a hint of herring/mackerel/bluey if it's left over from the summer.

I was thinking of keeping them and quilting them all together.
The fragrance would be amazing 🤩

The quilt truly inspirational with many subtle blends but if possible to bottle or in capsule form could be administered in many ways. Find cart neutral but a good blend of fish baits both shell and other mixed with worm essential though always found boat bait towels to be the most pungent due to high saltwater content and traces of fish guts.
Think the fermenting and storage process important to produce the right essence but tastes can differ🤔
