Light rain, wind from behind so comfy enough.
1 rod only, pennel whole squid.
After a big blow on shore last couple days I thought there wouldn't be many whiting.
As it turned out they made presenting a bait for rays etc almost impossible.
Anyway a couple of hours clearing my head after a bit of a session in town last night ?
Landed a few whiting that was all . Had to change hooklink every cast tangled ball even went up to 60lbs stiff stuff same result.
Nice evening .
2 unlucky victims have been added to the pike bait stock.

Well done.
If there are hoards of sea rats about, try not to use bait elastic. The rats use it to tangle your rigs into an unusable mess.

Well done on catching a few, even if they wernt the intended target.

Never thought about that, but will remember in future. Plus it's a waste of time I guess if theres that many about, they'll be on the bait in seconds at any distance. Must admit, I've caught withing at dunwich by dropping the bait off the end of the rod so literally 10 ft out.

Probably have another go later..
True about elastic. Trouble is notice big difference between ray numbers here between a lob and a good 100 yard plus, so the elastic helps a lot with aerodynamics.
Might try freezing some baits onto the hooks in the flask tactics though

Great idea. I reeled one in before and used it a few times then lost it myself in transit not even to a snag haha. Then never really thought about them again. Will have a go , should stop the odd time out of 10 that the bait slides up the line with top hook too , for me anyway .

Update this thread rather than a new one...
Had another go for a couple hours this evening . Tiny little tide and calm conditions. Whole squid again which lasted better today as less whiting attacking it but still landed a couple.
I've just been going on similar conditions previous years and months that have produced so fancied chances of a ray . They usually turn up some tides.
I then heard that a boat comp nearby last week 42 boats no rays caught which I only found out tonight haha . Not sure if that's true 100% as havnt seen results myself. There was a shore comp today at herne Bay today i think if anyone knows the weigh in? I'd guess there must be a few fish out there , matches always interesting to see what's about.

Shame you couldn't get through the whiting, but nice looking bag a bait tho (y) (y)
