after friday nights venture catching over grown tings and a tiny sole , iv decided to do the same but this time with very light rods for some sport , conoflex frenzy and century lite both with 5000 sized multis strapped to em

Good fun on the light gear I imagine.

yes it was the rod handled it perfectly makes me think we are over gunning with powerful rods and missing out on feel sport ,
Agree, look at the size of fish taken on lures and fly.
The flip side is can a light rod be used in a raging sea when you need to get a decent bait beyond the 100yd mark?
I guess that's why many of us have so many different rods!!?

Well done nice eel ?

I agree about the lighter rods, one of the reasons I use the New Fireblade... It copes with the demands of the Bristol channel reefs, yet has loads of feel playing hounds, rays, bass etc.
I would love to go even lighter, but I'd struggle as need bigger weights/ baits.
