…… A month since my last bait fishing session but that was put right last night.
With bait sorted I decided to keep it reasonably local with my chosen venue and for a change I was going to fish two rods.
Arrived a little before low and set everything up but other than a little run off something on the first cast the two rods remained motionless until a couple of hours into the flood when the 4 & Bait I was fishing for hounds with showed signs of interest. Sure enough after a short but spirited scrap the blank was beaten with a Hound ?.
Whilst unhooking I could hear the ratchet clicking away on the other rod, I’d baited this one up through the evening targeting a Huss and sure enough after releasing the Hound and giving this one a little time a Huss was landed for a second fish and species on the night.
I missed a couple of bites after these dropping one about half way in which I think would have been a decent Huss going by weight, oh well can’t win ‘em all ?
By now too the tide was beginning to push and from experience 2.5hrs up is about the right state of tide to get off where I was fishing and I called it a night.
Rather happy both target species were caught but given the conditions a little upset it hadn’t produced more.
Probably back to the luring next week now looking at the tides so hears hoping for some silver ?
