02.08.21. chesil . fried. 20.30-1300ish

with a very small tide choice seemed to be hurst shingle or back to chesil. recent rough made me think weed may be a prob along hurst so went back to chesil yet again.

plan was cogden, but when i got there carpark machine bust and i was unable/willing to pay by phone, just a small thing but it doesnt take much to put me off a venue , could see it was a little busy down there so went back to portland, betwixed landing craft and checkpoint this time.

conditions- flat calm, no wind, dry saw no moon till just b4 dawn. (last 1/4). high tide about midnight. odd raft of weed about drifting by on tide but not a problem.

baits squid,lug,sandeel, fresh scad/mackerel .
rigs pulley/ up n over/ 3 hooks flapping.

flicked the feathers for a mackerel or two but failed. caught an eel on the bottom which did what eels do.

and at last light i picked up a scad on the feathers.
after that it was slow and boring.

caught a titchy huss at some point. & a couple more eels. was feeling worn out by dawn, was planning on leaving but a flick about with some feathers found me 4 mackerel and so i fished on with fresh bait. not much doing, fell asleep.

woke to find the sun blazing into my bivvy , rebaited and got aon my r/h rod which translated into a nice bream. but unfortunately there were no more . got home to find i had been a little sunburnt.

Good effort Gordon!

Is the Cogden machine still Natural Trust? I thought if it was broken, you just got a free day?
aye, all covered up but a big sign next to it saying pay by phone, download app etc, too much hassle for me.
