Up bright and early again this morning.
Headed off to galloways beach armed with the bass rods and mackerel heads for bait.
I set up in the gloom before sunrise and cast out. One at 40yds and one at 20yds.
Then I waited. I waited some more.
I changed baits and recast.
Then I waited some more.
Before too long it was time to pack up and go.
There ends another unsuccessful bass trip!

Keep at it mate it will come good eventually ?

Love your committment, best time of day once you've come round from sleepyville.
I want to try this type of dangling but it's a 2 HR drive each way. I assume you're a bit more local ,?

Very local.
My nearest mark is a 30 second walk!

Keep trying Shirl!

I know you get up at 3am (!) usually, but have you not tried after dark when there’s a bit of surf running?
I know they say first and last light are good but always had my best bass fishing when the right tide window and conditions falls a good couple of hours at least after full dark.

Well done on the effort, and you don't need any advice I'm sure, but worth noting that down that way my friend does a lot of big bass fishing and all his fish over 8lbs (upto 14lbs!!!!) Have come between 10pm and 3am no big ones any other times of day .

Aye, night time is the time, just have to make the most of when I can go.
There are still an awful lot that come out early morning.
Most of my best bass catches have been last or first light.

Good effort Shirl - best part of the day for me - despite much trying I've never had a bass on mackerel baits of any sort - heads, chunks, fillets, trolled belly strip etc or even livebaits. Caught plenty of other species on mack but never ol' labrax.

I’ve caught 90 percent on my bass on mackerel mainly fresh but frozen aswell funny how different baits work better in different areas

Your efforts will be rewarded when you least expect it. Targeting specific species doesn't always pay dividends, sometimes they just come along out of the blue, but normally shear luck and right place at the right time and all that.

Ian.
