After a really windy week the weather was looking good for Friday eve , so Ben and i decided we would go after huss on our local coast .
in plymouth there was no wind so we thought ideal so we got to the cliff top about 5pm and it was blowing a gale left to right bad news , and the swell was looking big . Half an hour later we were down on our mark and I was glad we chose this one as the swell was massive and the wind gusting hard , so we both started off with lures I used the seeker and after a dozen or so cast thought this is no good and after one or two last cast lost my seeker in the reef decided that was enough .
so now Ben and I had one rod each with a size 6/0 hook on with 80lb trace and a rotten bottom , Ben must have lost 6 rigs , I lost about 4 leads and a few hooks , it was hard work with the swell , we were only lobbing the bait out 20 yards or so ,
Anyway I caught a starfish and a conger Ben was getting bites but couldn’t hook anything, it was bitterly cold in that wind . At 9.30pm after both of us losing more gear decided that was enough , after losing about 6 leads and using 4 mackerel my bag was a bit lighter and with Ben carrying my 2 rods in his hold-all we made the climb back up the mountain passed all the sheep .
