After a bit of a run around i managed to get some ragworm £20 for a friday night bass session, I got there at low 5.30 pm dusk was desending, just right i thought it was a while before I got my first bite , then I had a busy couple of hours catching small pout and small whiting , so I had already planed to move about 8.30 to another mark nearby , as soon as I got there I cast out a rig with worm on as soon as it hit the water fish on , whiting . So I put the other rod out with a 4/0 pennel rig on with mackerel as bait .
well within a short space of time I was only using one rod with mackerel on , I was trying to rig up a bait as soon as I cast but most times the whiting were on the bait before I could bait up the second hook . I kept a few whiting for me and the dog to eat as she loved them last week.
Once again it was a busy evening catching decent size whiting most were around a pound some bigger .
But now I have to go again soon so I can use the rest of the rag up about £15 I recon .
I don’t want to sound ungrateful but I think I have had enough of whiting this winter .
This was the highlight of the evening 4 big mermaids slipping into the water ???

They said the water was 9.5c the air temperature was 6 so maybe it felt warm ???

Nice report John. I did think about giving you a shout around 4pm to see where you were heading, but Wifey scuppered that as she had to dash out on a Mercy mission, and left instructions she wanted tea ready for her return! ?? Do they do Braid strong enough to hook one of those 'Mermaids'? I prefer the Cornish ones - you can use lighter tackle! ??

I just showed your Photo to Wifey and her comment was "Surely that is a hazard to Shipping"! ???

Plenty of meat on them , at least they were friendly and kept away from my lines

Great session John, still catching regularly in Feb is a massive bonus.

9.5c isnt that warmer than usual for this time of year? I see some “experts” reckon they kick off bass lure fishing at 10c maybe it will be an early start this year on the lures?

Nice session again there John, well done on the dinners for Coco. Take it you scarpered before the mermaids came back out the water and asked you for some help rubbing down!!
No I was still there when they came they looked a bit cold , I was a bit scared when they asked for a cuddle lol
