Never found any perceivable difference with braid if using a “shock leader” which I do, 70lb mainline with 90lb rubbing leader and at night when conditions cold and wet position of leader knot not even consideration to me.Do try and maintain same drop when possible and conditions allow but this usually “near as matters” When used to fish beach’s with multi and mono along with most other people used to love (on busy nights when conditions allowed) the distinctive twang of shocker knot passing through tip ring of others when casting, real frenzy at times
