Hi gents and ladies if your reading this.
Myself and Paul aka bluebird fished the bay this evening, on the whole it was light northwesterly winds prevailed, no surf, and low pressure. We started in the dark with a cloudles sky but half an hour later the wind picked up and we had a few flurries of snow, thankfully they didn't last long and the star filled sky returned. We had both turned up without any water proof trousers so were eternally grateful that they were short and sweey.
We had some stinky king rag well past it's sell by date and some fresh lug. It was fish from the off plenty of dogs and whiting, we had double hits of dog whitting and whiting and dogs, Paul even managed to fill a three hook rig with whiting. The fish certainly weren't put off by the stinky rag, though I couldn't say with any certainty which the fish prefered.
A pleasant nights fishing but a bit hard on the old bones as it was bloody cold, my hands spent a lot of time in my coats hand warmer pockets. Bauiting up was chore that we didn't looke forward to as the little pinkies had to come out of that loverly warm pocket. Our target fish the sole didn't turn up. No big deal, I'm not sure if they're still about this time of the year, most flatfish are thinking about spawning arond now and this cold snap might be encouraging them out deeper into warmer waters.
Get out there and appreciate the great outdoors, even being cold fills you with the feeling of it's good to be alive.
