Opened the curtains to a lovely sunny morning, trees was dead still, the sea looked stunning, a thought flashed through my head about getting a quick session in before the East winds hit tomorrow and curtail the fishing. Had to walk the dog first and after a hour and half was sweating in the sun, got home fed him and gathered my gear, didn't have much bait, half a rag worm, but had some isome if I needed it, gear in the car and off to the breakwater.
Was still very warm and sunny when I got there, water was flat calm, looked perfect, got baited up at my first spot and flipped it out, did this for the next 3/4 of an hour, totally bite less!!, didn't the fish know it was lovely out and should join me in the sun.
Moved done to the jetty in the hope that a bit deeper water would bring some thing out, nope! was dead here as well, where's all the fish!, tried for over an hour before giving up and walking back to the first spot just to try and use the last bit of the worm up.
First cast back at the first spot got me a nice couple of bangs on the line, the little bugger had snaffled the tiny bit a rag off the size 14 hook, new bit a rag, out it went to the same spot, bang fish on, " please don't come off, please don't come", as I reeled in, then it was out the water and in to my hand, yes a Black Goby, species number 20 for the year.
Had a few sessions trying to get number 20 didn't think id do it with just half a worm tho!, couple a pics and back he went.
The clouds had started to make their way across the sun dropping the temp a little, had a couple more casts before calling it a day and heading back to the car, a perfect end to a lovely sunny day.
