After a good session Thursday night ,similar conditions yesterday saw me and a mate decide to head back to the same spot near Herne Bay again .
Didn't have any live crabs this time but a few frozen and some squid.
Wind was quite strong but the water pretty clear. Lovely warm evening again. Set up 1 pulley rig with a single hook and crab bait and a pennel squid on the 2nd .
Soon realised fishing 2 rods was going to be hard work as the weed was savage , ripping the lead out pretty quickly to begin with, and covering the bait soon after . Went through this process about an hour of casts where I was reeling in one rod , chuck the other out, then by the time id baited the other rod the one in the water was ready to reel in again , as dragging downtide lol
So hard work . Slightly bigger tide had really made it difficult.
Then just on dusk with high at 2140 I had a great pull down bite on frozen crab, thought must be a smoothy, but after a few seconds of it hugging the bottom realised it was a ray! Up came a lovely marked fish with a massive long tail !!
After plugging away through the difficult conditions for another hour or so with nothing else to show between us , it seemed like that was going to be it.. then I had a small thornie of around a pound that I didn't know was on under a mass of weed lol !!
We were about to pack up then I had a great run on crab and had a smoothy take me about 50 yards along the beach using the weed and tide to bully me . Landed a cracking fish of about 8 or 10lbs . No picture as would of had to carry it back a long way .
This gave my mate the enthusiasm to have a couple more casts and he landed his own one of about 8lbs really bright stars all over it !! So happy days both had something again and got home about 1 so not bad compared to 3 the night before haha.
I'll see if he'll let me post his pic ...camera shy I've tried getting him to join on here but not his thing.
