Hello everyone. Down in essex this weekend frinton on sea. Obviously putting the tackle on the van. Wondering if there's any good marks at the moment. Looked at Walton pier seems like some good fishing? Also I've not fished a pier before would I need a drop net? Any help would be great to hear about. Thanks in advance, Sam

Firstly welcome to TSF.
I am sure someone with knowledge of that area will give you some advice mate at some point.. 🎣

Ian.

Welcome to the Madhouse Sam! 👍👍

I can't help - I'm the opposite side of the country way down west!

Frinton can be pretty good, I like to go down near the golf course end, Ive fished walton pier for thirty odd years and never used a drop net but many do for larger rays and smooth hounds etc.
I havent fished much this year as I have not been well but I did walk up walton pier yesterday and not a lot was being caught on the day tides, Frinton is pretty close to Clacton so that pier is also an option.

It's a welcome from me as well Sam. (y)

Thanks for the advice mate sounds good to me I think I’ll fish frinton at the golf course then the kids can play on the beach too. Going to take some lug for a bite then some squid in hopes of a better fish. Do you have any suggestions for bait. Thanks again for the help!

The sea hits the wall there at high tide so the kids cant get on the beach and theres not much else there for them to do, You may be better heading to Holland Haven if you want some beach, its pretty close to Frinton, Of course more entertainment can be had at both Walton and Clacton but the beaches will be busier in the day.

Bait wise I just use worm, squid, herring and bluey..

Good luck..:)

Thanks for the advice I ended up going down the Walton pier had lots of small bass and a couple good sizes ones was great fishing. Had a go on the beach after high tide but dog walkers and swimmers everywhere nearly impossible to fish! Thanks for all the help
