Finished work early so Last minute decision to get out yesterday afternoon.
Headed to the local beach with some barely defrosted quid and mackerel with some half dead rag worms….. ok so not the greatest start haha but it was lastminute.com
Only fished 2 hours up and 1 down, not expectations. Mixture of pulley pennels with larger hooks/ 2 hook flapper with small hooks/ up and over plaice rig with beads and vajazzle etc.
Well wished I’d checked the wind forecast! Where did that come from? 18mph blowing straight across the beach made for fun casting!
Once in the shelter it was ok so just watching the rod tips bouncing around in the wind.
Straight into the whiting on the first cast with a fairly small one nailing the bigger hook and fish bait sadly it gut hooked so that was the next bait sorted….. at least it wasn’t frozen.
A few little taps for the next hour but nothing taking. Decided to put the size 14 hooks on and see what was nibbling.
It wasn’t long before the little taps came back and reeled in a couple of pin whiting.
The last 20 mins I spent trying to shooo a dog away from my stuff, threw it a stick which the wind picked up and it went down the beach at 20mph and almost hit its owner
I swear I didn’t mean it your honour!
Well we got out caught some fish and made it home alive so I’ll take that as a win.
Photo credit goes to my wife Susan who really enjoyed an afternoon taking up ALL the space in the shelter!
