Decided to head down to eastney in portsmouth to use up some left over black lug, the weather was a bit miserable being wet and windy.
It’s only 5min drive from home so nothing to loose if it was unfishable.
2 hook clipped down flapper size 2 hooks on both rods with black lug.
Wind was straight in my face which made casting on 1 rod “fun” ( I’ve been learning to use and cast a multiplier for the past 6 months) pretty please as no birds nests! Century fireblade with a penn mag525 original for those interested…. It’s a reel which was previously owned by local legend Ian golds god rest his soul which I won from a charity raffle.
The other rod which was a mistake is a tronixpro cx1 which was way to soft for the conditions.
Fished the tide up for 2 hours with nothing biting and constantly trying to decipher the signals coming from the soft tip which was doing it’s best semi fore impression. A few weight changes and rod repositioning as the wind changed to crosswind and I started getting some nibbles!
40mins after high tide I caught 2 small dabs which saved the blank in sideways rain! Amazing how it lifts your spirits! A few days of strong wind forecast so nice to get out before that’s hits.
