Dungeness

Many years ago I fished Princess Parade and managed to catch.

Has anybody on here had any luck fishing Dungeness on a neap? Or any better spots nearby
Generally only fish around the point on the neaps, preferably over low.
Plenty of unicorns way back when.
Now you can fill your boots with dogfish and pin whiting.
Personally I'd concentrate my efforts on other venues, like skarnsundett in Norway.
Unless you live locally and dig your own bait, Dungeness is just not worth the effort.
Unless you love dogfish 🤣

Fished a few matches Hythe - Dymchurch back in the day, neaps were ok after/during a blow but proper scratching if it was calm.

Struggling to think of anywhere better in Kent for the weekend , usually deal/walmer but same problem full of dogfish

Have you considered coarse fishing?
It's looking a better bet for something decent to catch.

Dungeness:
The water will be gin clear.
It's sunny and not a breath of wind.
Every chance of mackerel 😯
There is always the chance of something I suppose.
If you really want to go, try a couple of live baits very close in. There are always some huge bass around this time of year. Especially in darkness.
Just keep the lights and stomping about to an absolute minimum.

Thanks for the advice mate, I’ll have to give it a try Saturday , will have to post if I get one of those huge bass you said about. I would much rather catch one decent bass than the 13 dogfish I had off deal last week 😂 I have done coarse fishing in the past but not for a while now so I might have to give that a go again at some point.

Jax And I recently did Dungeness and were pulling in triple shots of dogs every 10 minutes 😭😭

Tried using as big of a bait as I could in deal other day , got rid of most the dogs , had a couple eels and one conger but other than that it’s all been dogs and the odd hound here and there , a couple of years ago in deal I’d of had at least a couple decent bass a session down there

Well I go fishing to relax & catch "fish", if Doggies keep me busy then I'll happily catch them all day and take anything else as a bonus.
Can you still get access to Shell ness/ top end of Sandwich bay behind Royal St Georges ? bit off the beaten track so shouldn't get hammered like Sandown/Deal/Walmer

I’ll have to look into that I think , the spot I use on deal beach isn’t bad at all, just like to try different places , went to Dungeness Saturday , I caught one dog fish in ten hour , not sure if that’s down to lack of fish or the fact it was by far the most fisherman I’ve ever seen in one place , not sure if there was a match going on or something, crazy , hard to find a spot with a bit of room
