Just been reading some interesting posts on wsf from thirteen years back contributed to by Shirles on the cod fishing and catches from the shore and pondering if things have declined dramatically since as a venue excepting the general decline in most places.
Probably old news to many but would be interested to know how the last decade or so has fared.
Also a very good report on plaice fishing from same era on a charter trip beating boats pb with think it was 83 landed and also wondering if plaice fishing still healthy in general?

Traitor :unsure::ROFLMAO:

It's alive and well with as many dogfish as you can catch.
If you can get through those, it's pin whiting.

Deep woe, sorry to hear of lack of proper fish 🙁
Is so devoid of decent fish, even the local commercial fleet are potting for welks.

That's not to say there are NO decent fish.
There will always be the odd decent bass, sole, hound, skate, plaice or even a solitary cod in the winter, but for hours fished, it's very poor odds.
Better off working overtime if you can and going to Norway for some decent fishing.

get the picture and same as a lot of other venues and most been shadows of former selves and sign of the times, a interesting read is the catch overlay on Whitby sea anglers association site giving year, month, and weight of fish caught from mid eighties till today and tells a interesting tale of matches fished 🤔
