After the blank a few days back ? the weather was finally looking a bit better, with the NE winds dropping down a fair bit, and the sun coming out. I'd been waiting for the change as still had around a lb of rag in the fridge from 8 days ago that needed using!

I planned to have another go where I'd blanked, not the best spot in the world, but one that offered a few species hopefully.

I then had a message from a mate saying he was down to do high with his dad and a pic showing a nice calm sea ?.... I couldn't resist, I was on my way to do high!

I had a new plan to do 3 hrs with him and then maybe go to the original low mark after.... I don't normally do 2 sessions but did want a chance of a few fish, and was keen to see if I blanked again.

The high mark, can be poor a lot of the time, but is easy to fish, so I got the rods out and chatted with a couple of locals about past monster fish.... Like we all do ?
Time went on and just 1 strap had come out to my mates Dad, but the sun was out, shorts were on, and it was nice!

The best time approached and I missed a nibble, then had a silver eel.... Blank saved.

Soon after a better bite and a good scrap from a frisky strap around 7-8lb...and that was my lot. IMG_20210904_183951.jpg

Didn't see anything else caught so still not great.

I moved to the next spot and slowly walked out and got ready for the tide to drop and allow access onto the mark.

Rigs were picked, up&over with 2 & 1/0 hooks for hopefully sole, bass rays etc
Using just the old rag, with some crab, prawn and squid in a flask in case I ran out.

It was a nice night, dark, calm and warm.... So much better than before.

It was however just as slow... No bites other that a few tiny nibbles from crabs/ tiny eels I guessed.

Low approached, peak time was here, and with that in came a small strap!.... A start.

Then a better fight and something heavy dragged the bottom all the way in... I hate it when they do that... Bloody rays ? ?

A good one though going 9lb 3oz....perfect. IMG_20210905_013146~2.jpg

Next rattle was a little bass of a lb or so, then another.
Then while landing that the other rod went with another nice ray 8lb.04IMG_20210905_014142~2.jpg

Next was another target... A nice little sole of 1lb 4oz, followed by a better bass of 2lb 12oz (took those for tea)

Next was a smaller ray around 6, and to finish a first for me..... A small sole & a 6lb eel on a size 2 pennel!!..... Picture winding in a reasonable weight, a spinning small sole popped up with this long body behind ???.... Yup a strange one that, and with that it was time to go.

Cheers Si.
