Now that most the Grocks have gone I had a go down Blackpool sands last night. One, to use some bait that was going off in the fridge and two, to try out my new reel, my old Okuma died and not got anywhere chasing spares, so went for a Daiwa Shorecast.
Beach was nearly empty when I got there at 7pm, got all set up and out fairly quickly, wasn't expecting much in daylight really and only thing that came out was a rather large spider. After dusk and high tide had passed, I was hoping for a bit more interest from some fish but they seemed to be beaten to the bait by the spiders.
Managed only one bite that was from a feisty Dogfish and bar another spider that was it for the night. Least it was nice to be out and try out the new reel that seemed to work ok.

Good effort and a nice report Bob! Glad the new Reel seemed OK. Blackpool was on my possible list of places to re-visit, but John said it's a killer on the legs so I think I'll forget that idea. Not been there since I was a youngster! ????

Is spider season early this year?
