South West Comp night

Comp got turned into a rover last night cause of high winds me and a mate decided to head to ladram bay a mark you can only fish in winter cause it’s a private beach for the Adjacent holiday park any how arrived around 4 and found the Surrounding headlands gave us plenty of protection form the forecasted 40 mph winds due later on anyway me mate was first in with a nice little wrasse wasn’t a ballen can’t remember wot it was I wanted one for my hunt then he snagged a nice 3 bearded rocking good for the comp I want one for my hunt aswell ?then it was my turn apart from loads of small pout to rag I’d had nothing to say in but a 1 lb 5 oz dog and a 1lb 1 oz pout double shot got me on me way mate then had a double shot of decent dogs while I chouldt find another decent pout or dog then around 1 an 1/2 hrs before high fishing died completely all worm and small fish baits comeing back untouched I had a theory about this and a whole pout flapper got sent out 10 mins later rod arched right over I grab it set the hook and felt a heavy wait and head shakes unfortunately it let go ?‍Five mins later and my other rod done the same and I landed a strap around 2lb plus unfortunately no good for the comp the one I lost certainly whould have been managed a 7 oz pout at the death so had 3 fish to weigh in same as me mate back at the meet turns out I was 30 mins from winning £50 for my pout but another mate landed a 1lb 3 oz right at the end his only fish of the night from shitty Seaton jammy twat ? finished 5 th over all mate took 4 th and I’m 5 th in the table Arfter 2 match’s happy with that charmouth next dogs pout and rays will be the target sorry no pics but hectic cheers ma butes
Ps all you species hunters out there ladram chucks up a multitude of species we had 6 between us not bad for feb easy fishing into clean ground surround by rocks here’s a pic we fished either side of the stack and lost no gear

Thats a bummer missing out by couple ounces for 50 notes and missing the big one too. But doing well in the table,just a matter of being constant now and scoring every match.
Looks a nice place to fish as well.

Hard luck with the payout Paul you deserved more.Stayed at Ladram Bay a couple of times and fished the same marks as you but in the Summer months.Mackerel and Wrasse for me.Did try the whole length of the beach with lures more than once for the Bass but to no avail.Nice club for a drink and entertainment when the day is over.
