So yesterday we fished are area C rover basically we can fish anywhere beteeen Plymouth and Monmouth beach Lyme . I’ve got previous in this comp last year I took 1 st and second with a pb hound and a good dog . So wondering if lighting chould strike twice I headed with my mate to our mark . The sea looked clear on the approach so plaice where on the cards but as we got to the beach the predicted Northenly winds where blowing from the east and not the 15 mph given by the weather sites this was easily 30 + mph in between some bugger gusts . Took me 20 mins to erect me tent with enough shingle on it and it was still trying to move the tripod had a bag of shingle and a large boulder I strapped round the leg of it to prevent the rods going over any way all set up ready first cast produced a 1.4 oz dog for me and a double shot of dogs for me mate then nowt 4 hrs went past with just a few rattles and a undersized plaice for me that and every now and again holding the shelter down cause it started gusting again not much else was happing I was starting to think I made a bad choice and should have gone warsseing like a few others had to start with but then around 9 o’clock it all changed first of all the wind Swang round to a westly and all of a sudden it turned on first off I had my second dog (comps run you weigh in you best two fish of each species ) so with my dogs done I was able to concentrate on hounds I orso whacked out the very last of my worm tipped with squid to see if I chould find a plaice at dusk arfter doing so my hound rod registered a bite I lifted into it to find a fish on and began a lovely little fight while this was happening I noticed my plaice rod regerstering bites another dog I Reckoned I got my hound In not big at 3 lb 8 oz but good points I quickly chucked him back and launched another crab out then started to bring in my plaice rod feeling decent weight a decent dog I thought but as it come in it stayed deep until it hit the shore with a double shot of plaice one around a 1 lb and a Absolute beast of a spotty I quickly shouted for my mate to come over and we weighed the fish the smaller of the 2 was around 13 oz but sizeable the bin lid was 2 lb 9 oz so new pb I was chuffed quick rebate and a think I had my 2 dogs and 2 plaice was sure I’d find another hound so decided to flick half a Mac I. The gutter the same tactics that had been serving me wel last few weekends . My mate then Shouted up he was into a better fish and I chould see his T 800 getting a work out few moments later I helped him land a corking 6 lb 7 oz hound as I looked over to check my rods I chould see the bass bait arching over ran the 100 yards to get to it but missed him ? wound it in to find it had pulled the bait over the hook bit of diy with elastic the. Back out .
The herd my Ratchet go on the hound rod and arfter a short fight another hound of 3 lb 5 was in the bag sent out another crab to see if I chould find a bigger one and while sorting out another hound bait the bass rod went again this time she was on and arfter a short spirted fight I had a lovely 3.8 bass on the shore he became tea ?. Dropped another hound on the way in but was smaller than the others so no worries there . Time was nearly up and knew we had a nasty walk back Coupled With the rain was gonna be a git . My hound rod then registered a decent knock and wot I thought was a small hound turned out to be a cracking dog cheaked on both sets of scales we had she registered at 2lb 5 oz very good comp fish and that was that time to pack up and head back we smashed the hike home but was knackered carry gear and fish back up the hill ?? . Back at the weigh in I took 1st plaice with the spotty and 2 nd with the dog mate had 3 rd with his hound it was orso the pairs and altho my partner who fished another mark only weighed in a dog my points tally gave us a healthy lead over our closest rivals and i have shot up too 3 rd in the individual leader board . So an amazing nights fishing another pb £80 winnings and some good eating fish it was defo worth the hike boat comp next weeKen’s hopefully the bream are showing cheers ma butes ?03938974-EA13-49F6-A3B8-6E06E4B436BC.jpegCF5F7EF8-0852-4689-8639-A1799519A6B7.jpegD6DA7C74-129B-43FD-843E-5125485CE8DF.jpeg4718A1A2-04CC-4538-8A5A-52B2EFAE7BAF.jpeg

Does your comp still weigh in fish then?

Yes but catch and release unless you want it to eat or bait we get members fishing with us to sign the sheet or if solo you have to take a playing card which you need to put in picture with you weighing fish but seriously if your gonna cheat in a fishing comp your a bet sad individual ??‍♂️ We had 30 anglers fish in last nights comp so great turnout I do like the way our comps are run with getting two of each species orso need to be in size according to wyvren rules it makes you think my game plan paid off last night but it doesn’t all ways nice to something other than dogs win and now the summer species are showing really makes it interesting macs gar gurnard in daylight scad at dusk then dogs and pout at night things like bass rays hounds are always bonus fish good fun next ones at branscome then all chisel the first bring the 24 hr rover my favourite comp of the year ??nice to hear from you si hope your still smashing it bey

That sounds a good run comp bud?

Well done again on wining for a 2nd year in a row, outstanding fishing that.... And a cracking plaice as well.

I've had a couple sessions on the ? I'll do a roundup soon.... Well overdue I think ??
