Had another bash at the plaice. Sea had a bigger swell than I liked, plenty of rot for the first 30 yards. Spider crabs very active, lost at least a dozen hooks, dragged in one huge crab. I managed 4 plaice and a dab, my nephew had his first plaice so he was made up. All in all another very slow and hard day. Had a boat drift in front of me around 60 yards out which wasn't very helpful either. Managed to get a burnt head even though it was foggy for a fair bit of the day. Ah well the joys of fishing chesil! 130661.jpg130668.jpg

That boat made me laugh, he was just off where the fish are and kept going through the same drift.
He was in way too close.... someone had told him where to line up to start his drift but not told him how far out to be.
The spiders are definitely in and thats me done with Chesil for a couple of months now, they were a mare, still had a few flats out but spiders just make it depressing.

Good effort and a nice report Squiddy! Well done on the Plaice. That boat needs a few 6oz leads lobbing at it! John's nephew had a huge Spider Crab last Autumn, I compared it to one on Youtube and reckoned it was near 5Lb. Knowing more about them now, I wish I'd brought it home and stuffed it in a pan. Not a huge fan of Crab or shellfish, but Wifey loves it! ????

I told him I could hit him, he said go on then. So I sent a lead up the side of him, and a good distance past him. He started his engine up and pushed out straight after!

As for the spiders, they are really good to eat, better than brown crab, a little sweeter. Biggest I've cooked was 4lb12oz. Loads of meat, the family loved it!

Well done on the nice bag of spottys

Good effort mate. ?
One of the worst sunburns I got was playing golf on a foggy day, didn’t see the sun at all but came off the course the same colour as a freshly cooked lobster.
Your Scottish, if you stand under a 30w bulb for more than an hour you should start peeling!.
